Our Chambres D'hotes
History: When David and Vikki brought the building that now houses the chambres d’hotes and is their family home it was a dilapidated seventeenth century farmhouse complete with a disused barn and built precariously on the side of a hill (the whole of Gramont village in fact is seated atop a huge hill, gifting to it unrivalled views of the surrounding countryside and, on a clear day, a panoramic picture of the Pyrenees). At the expense of two years of work, scores of volunteering on the part of family and friends and a limitless supply of enthusiasm and patience David and Vikki managed to restore the ruined farmhouse to its original glory and christen it, Le Petit Feuillant: chambres d’hotes and tables d’hotes.

The terms chambres d’hote literally means the rooms of the host. Dating back to the days when passing travellers would stay in the spare rooms of the ‘host’s’ house and eat and drink with their family at their table (la table d’hote), the archaic French term
has now become interchangeable with “Bed and Breakfast”. However, at Le Petit Feuillant in Gramont, Gascony, the terms chambre d’hote and table d’hote still apply in their traditional sense. Guests of Le Petit Feuillant are treated like members of the family, and are extended the same warmth and hospitality exhibited by Gascon inn keepers of old.
Accomodation: Each of the individually decorated guest rooms are furnished with elegant, period furniture in keep with the building’s original character. All rooms are complete with en suite bathroom, air conditioning and WIFI. Le Petit Feuillant offers guests three, south facing private terraces on which to sunbath and relax and a large, heated, outdoor hot tub from whose view point Gramont’s rich and verdant countryside can be admired.
Every morning guests at the chambres d’hote are served a hearty breakfast of fresh bread, croissants and patisserie from the local boulangerie, accompanied by home-made jam and honey from the village Honey Museum; a selection of cereals, fruit and yoghurt and charcuterie and a choice of local cheeses. In addition to this delicious breakfast, Table d’hote dining is also available every evening at a supplementary cost of 22 euros, including wine, and you can find more details about this on the Table d’hote Dining section of our website.
